Men's Global Runway Recap | Spring/Summer 2020

There was a pivotal shift away from the logo-centric streetwear of seasons past in favor of a refreshing blend of relaxed formality and super sophisticated shapes on the New York, London, Milan and Paris runways. While there were still a few themes that focused on colorful techno materials and crafty heritage, the most influential themes for next season revolved around the new ideals of man, including an abundance of chill vibes, dressed-up layers, and new perfections of masculinity. BRIGHT CITY  

The excess and decadence of the 80s has re-emerged on the runways, with a renewed focus on what is aspirational in the 21st century.

Scandinavian lake life was a major influence on the S/S20 runways, illustrating how to update the traditional coastal look in a cleaner, more modern way.

NUTOPIA 

The Great Outdoors moves away from campground technos to a look that's rooted in traditional gardening, but with a modern touch.

OPERANDI

As the perfect fusion between the past and future, this theme was all about placing utility front and center in bold new ways, creating a modern day explorer who's all about innovation.

PSYCHOTROPICS 

Summer holidays get a surreal, trippy makeover with neon tie-dyes, otherworldly photoreals, and cult-inspired styling.

ELECTRIC PASTELS 

Pastels reigned supreme overall, especially when punched up into alternative "non-neon" brights. 

WASHED-OUT NEUTRALS 

Plenty of faded neutrals served as more seasonally appropriate alternatives to traditional beige and taupe tones.  

IRIDESCENT METALLICS

Interestingly, metallic with iridescent finishes were utilized on unconventional outerwear and tailored garments for a fresh, tech-y appeal.
